Singer

There is no shame to stand in the sun,

or to be the naked silhouette

thrown upon the cave wall,

an allegory.

Nor to be the man with calloused hands,

committed to the life of a single trade.

You sing.

You make the grey land live.

Secrets arise from deep within your song.

You fill our cup,

and make us gaze upon the stars

and wonder.

Keep your face always toward the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you – Walt Whitman
