“I was there, at the Althing, at Thingvellir, with my brothers Thordur and Sighvat. This is perhaps the first memory I have in this life. It was like a celebration. Chieftains and their people were gathered from all across the land. Once a year there was this great gathering. There was folly and celebration, contests and feasting. There was great camaraderie, folks that hadn’t seen each other in a long while. There were new tales to tell, adventures and quests to share. But most of all there was the law giving. I knew nothing of the seriousness of it, at the time, though as you know, I myself held the office of Lawspeaker, for quite some time. More than once, I would add.”
